At Belfast Netball Club, we believe in honouring those who’ve gone above and beyond. The legends who’ve laced up, led, lifted, and loved this club through the years. Our Life Members are the heart of our history and the soul of our future. Here, we celebrate their unwavering dedication, fierce spirit, and lifelong commitment to the game and our club.

They are more than just members — they are Belfast Netball Club for life.

Sherrill Matterson (Life Member from 1978)

Sherrill is the founder of our club. Sherrill has had over 50 years service to Belfast Netball Club and is still going! Sherrill has been a member of our committee as well as being the Secretary. She has played, coached, and was an intergral part of our Golden Oldies Team.

Irene Nixey (Life Member from  pre 1980)

Irene has 40 years of service to the Belfast Netball Club. She has been the Secretary, a committee member and a player in her time at Belfast Netball Club.

Pam Foster (Life Member from 1982)

Pam had 25 years of service to the Belfast Netball Club. Pam was the President of Belfast Netball for many years, She was also Club Captain, part of the general committee, a player, coach and part of the Golden Oldies Team. Pam was also a keen support of her daughter who played for Belfast Netball Club also.

Marie Eustace (Life Member)

Marie has 25 years service to the Belfast Netball Club. Marie was a player, coach, junior & senior committee and part of the Golden Oldies Team.

Sharon Ashby (Life Member from 1972)

Sharon has 25 years service to Belfast Netball Club. Sharon was a player, President, Club Captain and part of the general committee. Sharon was also part of the Golden Oldies Team.

Sandra Richards (dec.) (Life Member)

Silver Fern #49 making her debut in November 1970. Sandra had been involved with the Belfast Netball Club for 40+ years. Sandra was a player, coach and was the Treasurer of the club for 26 years!! Sandra was also a keen supporter while her three daughters also played for Belfast. Sandra was also part of the Golden Oldies Team.

​​​​​​​Sue Don (Life Member from 2007)

Sue Don had three daughters that played for Belfast Netball Club. While supporting her daugthers, Sue got involved with the committe and became the Secretary for Belfast Netball Club, and was also part of the general committee.

Tania Shepphard (Life Member from 2012)

Tania has 24 years of service to the Belfast Netball Club. She has held many positions during her time. Tania has been President, Team Manager, Club Captain, part of the general committee, player and was also part of the Golden Oldies Team. Tania's daughter still plays for Belfast Netball Club currently.

Gayleen Lidgett (Life Member from 2022)

Lisa Sands (Life Member from 2022)

Lisa has had 21 years service to the Belfast Netball Club. She has been President, coach, player, an umpire and general committee member. Lisa's daughter, Bri, still plays for Belfast Netball Club.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Karen Ellis (Life Member from 2022)

Karen has 16 years service to the Belfast Netball Club. Karen was President from 2019 -2022.
Karen has coached multiple teams u15, u12 x2, A Team and B Team, is is currently the coach of our B Team. Karen, along with Nikki Martin and Emma King, was instrumental in getting our courts resurfaced. Karen's daughter has previously played, coached and umpired for Belfast Netball. Karen's two nieces have also played for the club.
